M&S x Oxfam Celebrity Shwop Shop

The swap shop – a student’s dream, a hoarder’s nightmare. But overall, a lot of fun! Marks & Spencer have teamed up with Oxfam in a bid to reduce waste and raise some cash, all in the name of charity. In the first stage of raising awareness for their excellent ‘Shwopping’ initiative, they will be hosting an exclusive celebrity ‘Shwop Shop’ – with the likes of Plan B, Ellie Goulding and Alexa Chung just some of the star-studded names donating threads to this good cause. Here is how Marks & Spencer’s celebrity ‘Shwop Shop’ works:

1. You bring some of your old, unwanted clothing (brand not important) to donate to the event in order to gain entry.
2. Shwoppers will then be able to purchase designer bargains donated by some of Britain’s major style icons, as well as an edit of the best items shwopped by the general public at M&S stores since the scheme started last year.
3. M&S will then work with Oxfam to reuse, recycle or resell your old clothing in order to help support people living in poverty.

Running on the 24th and 25th of January at the flagship M&S Marble Arch store, the celebrity shop will be staffed by a host of famous faces that includes Shwopping guru Joanna Lumley.

“By opening your hearts, minds and your wardrobe and going shwopping, you can not only bag an outfit worn on the red carpet or to a glitzy awards evening, but help the environment too. Fashion with a conscience, it is perfect isn’t it? By shwopping, all we want you to do is give your unwanted items stuffed in the back of your wardrobe a future.
