Swedish menswear label Cmmn Swdn looked to a “tech-noir” theme for its latest men’s offering, ahead of showing at London Collections: Men in January. Captured in a still life lookbook, the AW14 collection “fuses classic and stylish Hollywood dramas from the 1940s and 1950s with technical and sartorial science fiction”. Pieces revolve around a colour palette of blue, muted dark shades and white, interspersed with red and green tones, covering outerwear, shirts, sweatshirts and soft tailoring. In line with the technology theme, key pieces have been given added features, including the men’s shirt made with water repellent zips and the bomber jacket filled with down for insulation. The London-based brand has also focused on its overcoat for the season, creating the outerwear piece from unlined, double-faced wool, finished by hand. Founded in 2012, Cmmn Swdn is the brainchild of Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund, who previously worked on Kanye West’s fashion line in Paris. The design house received the Newgen Men sponsorship award for AW14, showing their second ever collection for SS15 at London Collections: Men earlier this year. The Cmmn Swdn AW14 collection is available now at Harvey Nichols. Prices range from £70 to £550.
