One of the men that gets Gandy impeccably equipped for such outings is menswear image consultant Joe Ottaway. As well as doubling as head of personal shopping at Selfridges, Ottaway has been behind the looks of several high-ranking celebrities.
Having left his mantle at the London department store (though we suspect he’s still on Gandy’s speed dial), Ottaway has now launched his own style membership service and set of shopping experiences.
Far from just another subscription service, members of the Style Club receive a seasonal home visit from Ottaway to carry out a wardrobe consultation and establish a style plan for the months ahead. Members then receive a monthly or bi-monthly Style Box tailored to the plan – as well as budget, job and lifestyle – with an emphasis on building a wardrobe of staple, investment pieces.
One-off style experiences are also available, including an at-home wardrobe consultation and personal shopping day. One of the crown jewels offered by Ottaway, a groomsman service, takes place at a leading Savile Row tailor and includes whiskey and cigar tasting as well as a massage, haircut, and classic wet shave.
So, while money doesn’t buy you style, it does buy you a bloody good stylist. Mr Gandy, watch your back.
