Your Essential Coffee Table Tome By Gosha Rubchinskiy

Not satisfied with flogging sell-out collections and conquering Dover Street Market, Russian designer-slash-photographer Gosha Rubchinskiy has just announced his third book, The Day of my Death, published by DSM’s in-house IDEA press. A light read, as the title suggests. Rubchinskiy’s most ambitious editorial venture to date, the photo book was inspired by his guest spot at this year’s Pitti Uomo trade show. “I wanted to do something special. A collection, a short film and a book,” Rubchinskiy says. “The book and film have the same title, and both are dedicated to and inspired by [Italian director and poet] P.P. Pasolini. The questions I am asking are: what is Europe now? Are countries together or separated? What is global and what is unique?” All questions ambiguously answered by the book’s preoccupation with industrial buildings, abandoned government headquarters, and skate rat models. Limited to just 1000 copies worldwide, they’re likely to disappear as quickly as his apparel. Grab yours on 25 June at the Commes des Garçons Trading Museum in Paris – probably not a poolside holiday read, but bragging rights for the coffee table nonetheless.
